    Biography:
HENRY SOMMERS, a successful farmer and stock raiser of Greenville township, operating on 120 acres of well cultivated soil, was born in this township, October 6, 1858, and is a son of Edward and Anna (O'Leary) Sommers. Mr. Sommers' parents were born in County Wexford, Ireland, and on coming to the United States, in 1857, located at once in Greenville township and purchased a tract of ten acres in the western part of the township. Edward Sommers cleared this little tract and in the meantime worked for other farmers of his vicinity until he was able to purchase the present farm of Henry Sommers, on which he spent the balance of his life, dying June 1, 1901. He was a hard and persevering worker all of his life and arose to a position of prominence among the farmers of his community. He and his wife, who died January 25, 1909, had seven children, of whom three survive: Henry, Ella, the wife of George M. Bishop, an Idaho mining man; and Johnnie, a cement worker and farmer of Ellington township. Henry Sommers attended district school No. 4, in Greenville township, and worked at home on his father's farm until twenty-two years of age, at which time he began working on the river as a log driver during the summer months, and in the woods in winter. After about two years he returned to his home and worked on the farm in summer and woods in winter for about eleven years, after which he remained on the homestead until about 1899, when he purchased a sixty-acre farm adjoining the homestead. Subsequently he purchased the Barkley homestead, a tract of seventy acres, but he later turned this over to his brother as his share of the land accumulated while in partnership, Henry taking the homestead. He has continued to live on this farm to the present time and now has a fertile tract of 120 acres which he devotes to general farming, and also feeds a number of steers for the market every winter. His place is well equipped with modern, substantial buildings, and its appearance denotes the presence of able management. Mr. Sommers is a member of the Roman Catholic church at Stephensville. He is a democrat in his political views, and has served as supervisor of his township for six years. On January 5, 1899, Mr. Sommers was united in marriage with Miss Anna Heiderman, who was born at Neenah, Wisconsin, December 14, 1873, daughter of John and Mary (---------------) Heiderman, the former a native of Germany and the latter of Scotland. They were early settlers of Neenah, and are now actively engaged in agricultural pursuits in Bovina township. Mr. and Mrs. Sommers have had six children, born as follows: Edward, October 18, 1900; Nellie, October 19, 1902; James, December 6, 1904; Frankie, January 28, 1906; Henry, December 12, 1908, and Willie, January 5, 1911.

Henry married Heidemann, Anna 5 Jan 1899, , , Wisconsin, USA. Anna (daughter of Heidemann, John Henry and Lynch, Jane) was born 28 Feb 1874, Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA; died 8 Sep 1963, Hortonville, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA; was buried , St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Stephensville, Wisconsin, USA. Biography:
BIOGRAPHIE: from DeLellis M Sommers Strong - August, 1995 Our parents, Edward Sommers and Anna Pritzl, met while Anna was living with her invalid mother on the Bohman farm near Hortonville. After her mother passed away, they were married in St Patrick Church in Stephensville were they paid pew rent and sat in the second pew on the right hand side of church every Sunday. Anna sang in the choir for many years. They had bought a 120 acre farm just a few miles NE of Stephenville. They were very happy and enjoyed working on the farm, having a large garden, an orchard of Apple trees, Pear trees and grape vines, berry bushes and they raised chickens and ducks. Dad used work horses for many years. They then bought another 60 acres and a tractor and more machinery. In those days, the neighbors all went back and forth filling silos and thrashing. Mother and dad were blessed with 10 children. On October 6, 1926 twins Harold and Gerald were born at home on the farm. Harold lived 8 hours and Gerald 16 hours. Then there were DeLellis, Catherine, Dorothy, Edward Jr., Eugene, Eunice, Helen and John. Like all children, growing up on the farm, we learned to help every day, working right along with Ma and dad. We helped in the barn, fed the cows and the calves, and horses too, went up in the hay mow and threw the hay down, planted and weeded in the garden, went to the woods and gathered wood for the furnace. One incident I remember was Dorothy throwing wood down the cellar chute and a piece flew up and broke a porch window which scared us all to death. Dad came out, looked at it with a very sober, straight face, took it out, went to the shed, got a new glass, fixed it and never said a word. For three days, us kids were very careful how we did our work. We all walked to the Pershing Grade School, about 1 ½ miles each way. When we got to school, each child had to carry in an armful of wood. We would raise the flag, go next door to the cheese factory for pails of water to put in the water fountain. Our mother did most of all of our sewing, everything from pajamas to our beautiful plaid skirts. We had lots of feed bags that we bleached out, were sewn into aprons, bloomers or what-ever was needed. A lot of the flour sacks the girls hemmed up and did embroidery on them for dish towels and luncheon cloths. Ma even made her own soap using Eagle Lye. Out in the pump house, dad had his tool bench and shoe repair form. Whenever a sole came loose or a heel needed to be tacked on, he fixed it. Ma will always be remembered for all her baking. "Home Made Bread?" NO ! But home canning, making butter and kolatches. Many relatives would take a Sunday ride, stop to see Aunt Anna and Uncle Ed on the farm and have a meal. Oven baked chicken, home-made bread, fresh pies, etc. . and many times went home with something. For the 4th of July, our treat was a watermelon, and on New Years day, we had home made ice cream, made with the hand turned freezer, (Snow, with salt added) around the sides, and sometimes, Ma even put flavoring in. We had a raspberry and strawberry patch and had lots of orders for them as we delivered them too when we dressed chickens and ducks, took them to Appleton to private homes and to Gloudman & Gage (Clothing and grocery store). With the money, Ma did her grocery and clothes shopping. We always had plenty of food and also crates of peaches or whatever we needed. For the kids, dad planted a pickle patch. I'm sure it was more than an acre. What ever we picked, we would load them on the truck, and go to Greenville to the sorting machine. The money from this was ours for clothes, shoes and all of our school supplies. We had plenty of pickles, and one time I can remember we were getting sick of picking them, so once in a while, we would pull a vine out by the roots, hoping some would die, but no, that made the plant next to it grow bigger and with more pickles. We just couldn't get rid of this job. Ma did all of the home canning until later years, we got a freezer from a place in Manitowoc, for our meats and vegetables. We also had a room called the potato cellar. For many years Ma and dad made dandelion, grape and elderberry wine and a small glass every day was considered healthy. There were many times when we would bring friends home from school with us and there would always be plenty for us to eat and do. We had lots of pets to take care of, a dog, a mother cat and her kittens, bandy chickens and a small goat. The goat would watch the back door as he loved to run into the house with the kids, up the steps and jump on that old leather couch. In those days, there would be a "Barn Dance", and everyone came, danced all night and the neighbors enjoyed being together. Always on May 1st, we and the neighbor children would hang "May Baskets". As we grew up, found jobs and got married, Ma and dad sold the farm, moved to Shiocton for a few years and then moved to Appleton where Ma worked at the hospital and dad did different jobs. As of today , there are 5 of us children left to carry on and we all say; What a beautiful life growing up on the farm, learning to do so many things, the "daily Rosary", the Angelus. We are hoping we can pass this on to our children and grandchildren.

Dee truly believed that family was the meaning of life. She loved her family deeply and her life revolved around caring for them. Dee was a very humble, kind, and compassionate person.
She was born July 19th 1928 in Shiocton, WI, to the late Ed and Anna Sommers. Dee graduated from Shiocton High School and then worked at the Greenville Locker Co-op for 3 years. On July 12th 1949, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Carlton Strong and together they shared 62 years of marriage.
Dee loved to quilt and made many beautiful quilted pieces over the years; she was a Eucharistic Minister, delivering communion to patients at the Wausau Hospital for 25 years and to shut-ins in Edgar. She played on a bowling team, volunteered at school or the Edgar Library whenever the need arose, delivered Meals-On-Wheels, belonged to the Edgar Woman's Club, and the St. John's Parish Woman's Club. She also made the time to enjoy many games of Sheepshead and listen to polka music. Dee worked with Ken in the grocery business for 40 years, starting in Greenville at the Co-op. They moved to Edgar to purchase the AG Store, and retired from the grocery business in 1990.

He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Visitation Wednesday January 16, 2008, 9:00 a.m. - 12 Noon SS. Obituary:
Sommers, Todd J. The world will miss a generous, humble and kind person who had a zest for life and a spirited soul. Todd James Sommers, 53 years young, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 30th 2015. He was born on December 30th in 1961 to Edward and Carol Sommers. Todd lived and grew up in the Shiocton area and for the past 20 years he lived in Appleton.
Todd is survived by his significant love, Joda Joy Wunderlich. They shared a home with many fond and special memories together. His family members include his loving mother, Carol (Miller) Sommers and caring step-father, Myron Kruzicki. Todd was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and his younger brother, Ted, and his dear friend and sidekick, Adam "Ike" Eisenhauer. His remaining siblings are his sister, Cynthia Sommers Trettin, living in Hershey, PA, and his three brothers, Sam (Julie), Fred (Ranae) and Aaron (Carie) who are all living in the Appleton area. He has two step-sisters, Paula (Wayne) Guyette in Hortonville and Robin Young in Appleton and one step-brother, Todd Kruzicki in Shiocton.
Todd had numerous beloved nephews and nieces: Andrew and Tyler Trettin plus Lacey (Sommers) Schneider. The remaining nephews/nieces have the Sommers surname including Joshua, Jordan, Noah, Taylor, Wesley, Finley, Bode and Ainsley. He could usually be found at any family event surrounded by the kids, sneaking them candy and bending his fingers backwards. Additionally, Todd spent precious time with and was extremely close to his godson Brock Eisenhauer. Todd had become incredibly close to little Brock and he so loved him.
Todd graduated from Shiocton High School in 1980. He played football, basketball and baseball during those pivotal years. Todd was given the nickname PINKY in high school. To this day he is still known to many as Pinky!
After Shiocton High Todd started his post secondary education at UW Oshkosh and transferred to UW Madison where he attended for several years! His area of training and expertise was in Construction Management.
Todd started working for the family business, Sommers Construction in Shiocton during his teenage years and continued throughout his life. He loved the challenge of the construction business and the camaraderie of his employees (the men). Many a weekend you'd find Pinky working in his office, just like this past weekend watching the Badger game and working on bids.
Todd loved all sports and especially any he could place a wager on! His all time favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. There were many great times at those stadiums when Pinky was there celebrating and often in rare form. Todd enjoyed golfing and his annual spring golf trips south with his brothers Fred and Aaron and his godson, Tyler. He thoroughly participated in going to sporting events of his nephews and nieces even flying out to Hershey and flying to Tyler's playoff games. We all loved and enjoyed having Todd at these events!
Pinky enjoyed a good adventure and his most favorite place on Earth was Lake Lucerne in Crandon. Many wonderful family vacations have been spent around that lake and campfire. He was a master fire builder and was often found sitting around the fire and throwing on "one more log" most of the night and into the wee hours of the morning, poking the fire and even making music (forming a motley band called Big E and the Sticks)!
Todd was an avid traveler. Joda and Todd were enamored with the delights of Cabo San Lucas and Cerritos Beach - the people, scenery and their relaxed culture. If only...uno mas!
Funeral Mass for Todd will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church, Shiocton. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Goodbye our dear Todd (Pinky) you were more than loved and liked by all your family and friends. You are one of a kind (there will never be another Pinky) with your signature strawberry blonde hair and huge heart! Now our hearts are aching and breaking because we will miss your fun nature and pure craziness! You made us laugh and cry. Your infectious smile and beautiful spirit will be sorely missed, particularly when we are in need of a pocket knife, flashlight, hair tie or quarter stick of dynamite. Prayers for your everlasting journey to our savior. Godspeed.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established by the Sommers family and Joda.
