- Commodore Metoxen "Mr. Terrible", 84, Oneida, was called home on Friday evening, Dec. 8, 2006. The son of the late Edward and Agnes (Skenandore) Metoxen was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Green Bay. He married the former Lorraine Hill and the couple was married 60 years. Commodore served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed playing dartball in the church league and hunting in his younger years. Mr. Metoxen worked in the Oneida area for many years and was a dedicated member of the Oneida United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; one daughter, Caroline Hill; one son, Bernard Metoxen; one step-daughter, Sandra (Bernard) Hawpetoss; ten grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and many great- grandchildren; ; two sisters, Virginia Skenandore, Dorothy Denruyter; two brothers, Earl Metoxen and Lyndahl Metoxen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters; Josephine, Samantha, Elda, Delia, Kaiser and Raymond.
Friends may call at Oneida Methodist Church, Freedom Road, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday Dec. 11, 2006. Oneida Hymn Singing will begin at 5:30 p.m. with parish prayer service to be held at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue at church after 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of services. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Julio A. Alvarado officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery with graveside services by the Oneida VFW Post.
