    News Mention (Family):
    • The celebration deferred two months so that the couple's two daughters who are members of religious orders could be here to attend, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Geigel will formally observe their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday. The anniversary date was April 22nd, and on that day those of their children who could be here had a family dinner. There was also a religious service at St. Gregory's Catholic church at St. Nazianz where the couple were married 50 years ago. Tomorrow there will be a dinner at Sacred Heart school hall at noon, and open house during the afternoon at the Geigel home at 731 North 5th street.
With the couple tomorrow will be their sons and daughters: Mrs. Lena Duwe, Mrs. Elinor Martin and Sister M. Adjutors, O.S.F., all of Milwaukee, Ivo of Appleton, Mrs. Karolyn Garrigan of Lena, Herman of Denmark, Sister M. Agathella of Decatur, the Rev. Francis Geigel of Green Bay and Roy of Manitowoc. Mrs. Geigel was Anna Milhaupt of St. Nazianz before her marriage on April 22, 1890, to Mr. Geigel. She was born at St. Nazianz on November 8, 1868. Mr. Geigel was born in Austria on November 25, 1865 and came to America as a young man. After their marriage at St. Nazianz, the couple lived at Clarks Mills and St. Nazianz before moving to Manitowoc. Mr. Geigel had a meat market in St. Nazianz, and when he moved to Manitowoc with his family he joined the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co. He also worked for the Manitowoc Seating Co., and for the last 13 years he has been janitor at the Sacred Heart church. Mr. Geigel is a member of the Holy Name society of Sacred Heart and of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Mrs. Geigel is a member of the Altar Society and Christian Mothers of Sacred Heart, and of the Robert Hampton chapter, American War Mothers. Both are in excellent health and enjoy their hobbies: Mrs. Geigel's is testing (illegible) she hears over the radio, and Mr. Geigel's is gardening and making cabinets. The Geigels have 11 grandchildren.
