From: jodisweere@gmail.comHi Jay...I would like to request the rest of the "living" individuals inf ormation you have on Cornelius Hendricus Sweere. He was my grandfather's b rother. My grandfather moved to a farm one mile north of Hilbert in 1949. He was J ohannes Sweere. Corneilis was his youngest brother. Corneil had already mo ved to the area some years before, bought a farm and worked at a paper mil l. My grandfather did the same, farmed and retired fom Consolidated Paper s. Those Sweere's were born in Noord-Brabant, Netherlands.
As far as I can tell, all the Sweere's in the Us today are derived from t wo Sweere brothers who immigrated to the US from noord-Brabant. Theodor us Sweere brought his family in 1915 to avoid having his sons conscript ed into the army. He was married to Johanna van den Heuvel. His brother, H endrickus Sweere (my gr-grandfather) followed with his family in 192 0. He was married to Johanna's sister, Wilhelmina van den Heuvel. Anoth er Sweere sister, Johanna, was married to Martin van den Heuvel, broth er to the two sisters. They are related to the Van den Heuvel's who settl ed in Little Chute, as well. The Sweere brothers initially settled to rai se their families in Butler, Otter Tail county, Minnesota.
Cornelis, who I asked you for information about, came the the Fox Cities f irst, when the Great Depression set in, following the Polman and Du Po nt families from that same area. Most of them worked at Kimberly Clark Pa per Mill in Kimberly. My own father, and one of his older brothers, Jame s, also retired from Kimberly Clark. I grew up in Calumet ccounty.
My mom's side of the family were French/Germans who came from Ohio to Milw aukee then migrated up the side of Lake Michigan settling in Fond du La c, Calumet and Manitowoc counties., in Chilton, New Holstein and Charlesto wn. Some of them also went to Richland county, near Cazenovia along the Li ttle Baraboo River. Almost everyone who is buried in the Germantown cemete ry just outside of Cazenovia is related to me in one way or another. Sma ll world, huh.
Their mother was Wilhelmina van den Huevel.
