  Reuben Julius Emil Ott, Sr., age 105 years, 6 months and 10 days, went home to his eternal reward on September 10, 2013. Reuben was born in the Town of Brillion, Calumet Co., Wisconsin, to Robert, Sr. and Bertha (Franzke) Ott on March 1, 1908. Reuben took Verona Leona Lillian Fokett as his bride on May 12, 1929 in a ceremony held in front of St. John-St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. The couple farmed in the Township of Brillion and Woodville. Reuben was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years on May 4, 1980. Reuben served his community in many capacities. He was first and foremost a farmer, remaining in the Forest Junction area his entire life. Reuben was a pioneer in the agricultural field being one of the first to employ sealed storage in Harvestore Silos. His involvement with the Harvestore Company brought about the naming of the road, Harvestore Rd., where Ru-Ott Farms is located in Calumet County. Reuben was also involved with various trucking businesses including hauling milk for 35 years for the Hernke Cheese Co. in Hilbert and Thiels Cheese Co. in St. John. He served on the Calumet County Agriculture Association Board of Directors for 30 years. Reuben served as a Supervisor on the Woodville Township and Calumet County Boards. He was president of the Holstein Association, served as a leader of the former Friendly Valley 4-H Club, and served on the UW Oshkosh Advisory Board; all accomplished with less than a sixth grade education. Reuben took pride in his family's accomplishments at the Calumet County fairs and the Wisconsin State fairs. His love for farming had Reuben remaining active in agricultural with various jobs done for family, friends and neighbors including cutting hay and plowing fields until he was 91. One of Reuben's greatest passions was singing. He had a beautiful baritone voice and sang with the Ott Quartet, various other men's choirs and was a member of various barbershop chorus groups. Reuben never met a person he didn't like or want to talk with or a child he didn't love. He was a loyal and enthusiastic supporter of the Hilbert High School music programs and sports teams. Even into his nineties, Reuben attended every girls and boys basketball and boys football games that he was able. Reuben is survived by his children: Ann (Tom) Duffy of Seymour, Orrin Ott of Hilbert, Renae (Marge) Ott of Forest Junction, Marlene Ott of Milwaukee and her special friend Mary Longsine, R. Michael (Reuben Jr.) Ott of Hilbert, Neil (Karen) Ott of Hilbert, Lynn Greenwood of Los Angeles, CA, Lee Ott of Appleton, and Berdine (Tom) Piepenburg of Hilbert; 41 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by one son-in-law: Lester Keller of Forest Junction; a daughter-in-law: Debbie (Ott) Lehman of New London, 2 sisters-in-law: Lucille (Zick) Ott, LaVerne (Wink) Ott both of Brillion; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Verona; a daughter: Mavis (Ott) Keller; a son: David B. (Claremont) Ott; 4 grandchildren: Kay (Keller) MacDonald, Val, Kris and Juan Ott; 9 brothers: Walter, Lawrence, Lester, Bennie, Harry, Oscar, Merlin, Donald and Robert Jr. Ott; and a sister: Viola (Ott) Luckow. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Peace Evangelical & Reformed Church in Potter with the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Junction. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, September 13, 2013 and on Saturday at the church from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm.
