  Robert G. Pekel, 82, Appleton, passed away Sunday May 27, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. He was born Feb. 22, 1925, to the late Andrew and Alvina Pekel in Appleton. Robert married Janice McRae on Oct. 18, 1946, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oshkosh, and she preceded him in death in 2005. He worked at the Appleton Wire Works until his retirement. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the McDowell Male Chorus. Survivors include his daughter, Mari Elizabeth (Greg) Martin, Fond du Lac; son, Robert S. (Cheryl) Pekel Sr., Appleton; grandchildren, Stephanie Theimer, Crystal Aguirre, Kristopher (Becky) Martin, Robert S. (Robin) Pekel Jr., Amber Pekel; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob and Hannah Theimer, Cooper Theimer-Darling; Cody Aguirre, Samantha and Jonathan Martin. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; parents; brother, Richard Pekel and sister, Lois Marta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. (Noon) Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating.
