  Lawrence M. DeGroot, age 88, Kimberly, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Colony Oak Care Center. Larry was born November 13, 1920, to the late John and Johanna (Haanegraf) DeGroot. On June 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Joanne Lueck at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Lawrence was a World War II Air Force Pilot stationed in Texas and had been an active member of the Wm. Verhagen American Legion Post #60 in Kimberly. Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was very close to his family and enjoyed the times spent with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Joanne; his five children: Mike DeGroot, Mark DeGroot, Jon DeGroot, Larry (Teresa) De Groot, and Kris (Don) Van Roy; 14 grandchildren: Scott (Lisa) DeGroot, Lisa (Bruce) Keeth, Jill (Scott) Thayer, Tara (Jim) Burkhart, Rachel (David) Osterling, Carrie DeGroot, Misty DeGroot, Matt (Amber) DeGroot, Lindsay DeGroot, Emily DeGroot, Jacob DeGroot, Kayln Van Roy, Cody Van Roy, and Sam Van Roy; nine great grandchildren; three sisters: Ella DeWees, Evelyn Riley, and Theresa Sanders. Larry was further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by six brothers: Jack, Maury, Gene, Adrian, Ambrose, and Paul; two sisters: Mary Lou and Grace.
