  Lorraine Catherine Hornke, age 87, of Menasha, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2012 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. Lorraine was born on June 22, 1925, in Kimberly, WI. She was the daughter of William P. and Adeline (Zenz) Schumacher. Lorraine was a graduate of Kimberly High School, Class of 1943. After graduating, she was employed as a bookkeeper by the former Wisconsin Distributing Co. On May 10, 1947, she married John Hornke at Holy Name Church in Kimberly. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2005. Lorraine had a long career as a tax consultant with the Internal Revenue Service spanning from 1969 until her retirement in 1986. Lorraine loved outdoor activities, especially playing golf. She served as an officer in several area golf leagues. She particularly enjoyed golfing with her friend Shirley Gmeiner. She also enjoyed traveling with John and visiting all fifty states and Canada. Lorraine and John spent their winters in Englewood, Florida. Lorraine is survived by her brother, Delmar (Nancy) Schumacher, Warminster, PA; special nieces, Sharon (Dan) Manson, Stoughton, WI, Karen (Mark) Vornholt, Neillsville; special nephew, Paul (Mary) Krueger, Appleton; as well as other nieces and nephews and special friends, the Brei family. She was preceded in death by her husband John; sisters, Bernice Decker, Ramona Krueger, and her parents. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Church with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of mass. Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center for their compassionate care of Lorraine.
