  Marie M Matz Age 101 of New London, died at St. Joseph's Residence in New London, on Monday, October 4, 2010, following a short illness. Marie was born on July 17, 1909, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha (Selig) Schoess. On October 28, 1933, she married Leonard Matz who preceded her in death in 1981. Marie lived and farmed in Maple Creek since 1936 and was a resident of St. Joseph's Residence since 2006. She was a very faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush all her life. Marie enjoyed gardening, needle work and most of all her family and church. Marie is survived by her sons, Leon (Donna), New London and Duane (Joyce) Matz, Appleton; grandchildren, Karl (Barb) Wege, Oshkosh, Lynn (Craig) Boesch, New Ulm, MN, Tom Matz, New London, Judy (Tim) Hansen, New London, Mark (Carla) Matz, Hortonville, Ann (Shannon) Dailey, Appleton, Beth (Rod) Solem, Seymour; great-grandchildren, Kurt (Leann) Wege, Eric Wege, Stacy Boesch, Jena Hansen, Jamie Matz, Kristi Matz, Kelly Matz, Angela Dailey, Tricia Dailey, Christina Dailey, Cole Solem, Chase Solem; one great-great-granddaughter, Savannah Wege; son-in-law, Melvin Wege; and special friends, Kathy Wege and Henrietta Jensen. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; daughter, Audrey Wege; and brother, Carl Schoess. A funeral service for Marie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush, with Reverend Brian Hennig officiating. Family and friends may call directly at church on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hortonville. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph's Residence for the years of wonderful care and also to the nurses of Heartland Hospice.
