He served in the 33rd Division Artillery HQ Co. as a telephone lineman and switchboard operator. He was sent to the South Pacific, serving in Hawaii, New Guinea, Mouti, the Philliipines and Japan over the next 32 months. He was honorably discharged at Camp McCoy, WI on Dec 16, 1945 and went into construction trades.
