  Kersten, the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Theodore, Son of Theodore K. and Mary Verkeulen, born at Chilton, Wis., February 10, 1883. Education: classics through theology at St. Francis Seminary. Ordained by Archbishop Messmer for the Diocese of Green Bay, at St. Francis Seminary, June 21 1907. Assistant at the cathedral parish, Green Bay, September 1, 1907. Pastor of parishes at: Osman (then known as Meeme) with mission at Spring Valley, November, 1910 (built school at Osman, 1912); Darboy, September 1, 1919; Manitowoc, St. Boniface's, as administrator during the temporary retirement of Msgr. Peil, May 21, 1922; Shawano and its missions, April 27, 1932 (also dean of the Shawano area); Cleveland with mission at Centerville, June 29, 1937; Stockbridge, August 5, 1940. Dean of the Calumet County Deanery from August 25, 1941, until his retirement from active pastoral work on March 14, 1956, when he became chaplain of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. Raised to the dignity of a domestic prelate by Pope Pius XII on March 14,1958. Transferred to the chaplaincy at St. Francis Convent, Bay Settlement, on September 8, 1960, where he died suddenly on February 15, 1961. Lies buried in the family lot in St. Mary Cemetery, Chilton
