  Friedwald, Elizabeth M. "Betty" Elizabeth M. "Betty" Friedwald, age 85, died at home on Wednesday morning, May 18, 2005. She was born on August 28, 1919, daughter of the late Patrick John and Mathilda (Harper) Murphy. She was united in marriage to the late George B. "Guy" Friedwald at St. Mary Catholic Church on December 14, 1946. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Elizabeth graduated as a nurse from South Side Community Hospital in Chicago and later received her B.S. from the College of St. Francis. She worked as a nurse all of her life, ending her career with International Mineral and Chemical Company in Chicago. Betty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. She and Guy spent their retirement years being avid golfers and traveling. Betty is survived by her sister, Louise M. Smith and sister-in-law, Ruth I. Murphy, both of Appleton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George, sister Margaret Green, and her brothers: Edward, John and Richard. The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME on Friday, May 20, 2005. The funeral liturgy will follow at 6:30 p.m. at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 West Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to C.F. Dedman, Dr. Travis Kroner, Barb Bittner, and the wonderful people at Fox River Assisted Living and the Angelus Retirement Community. A memorial fund in Betty's name is being established.
