  Biography	Irvin Charles Elpert - Irvin, the first child of Bernhard J. (Ben) and Theresa (Kessler) Elpert born, Sept. 15, 1910 in Festina, Iowa. In the summertime, while he w as in school he worked on farms around Festina. After graduating from t he eighth grade he continued to work on farms. Irvin moved to Rocheste r, MN in 1935 and worked as elevator operator at St. Mary's Hospita l. He married Ann Scholbrock Sept.29, 1935. Ann had moved from Festi na to Rochester in 1934. She worked as a floor girl in St. Mary's hospita l. Irvin and Ann had known each other since the age of 16. Irvin later w orked as an ice supplier for oxygen machines. He did this from 1935 to 194 2. He joined the Mayo Clinic in 1942 and worked as an evening janitor. I rvin and Ann are the parents of seven children. Irvin remodeled the fir st home they lived in, and built -the home Ann currently lives in. Irv in retired from the Mayo Clinic in Sept.1975 after serving thirty-three ye ars. He also drove a school bus for eight years, until 1981. He had ma ny hobbies including building things, polka music, fishing, visiting rela tives in Iowa and spending time with his grandchildren. Irvin and Ann tr aveled to California, Florida, Hawaii-, Old Mexico and Yellowstone Nation al Park. They also attended the Worlds Fair in Canada. To date, Irvin a nd Ann have 17 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Irvin died of a h eart attack at Methodist Hospital. In Rochester on March 31, 1983.
