  Peters, Carol J. Carol J. Peters, age 82, Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 14, 2008, after a long illness. She was born on June 4, 1926, in the Town of Cicero, daughter of the late Albert and Clara (Reinke) Litzkow. On June 25, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Peters at St. John's Evangelical & Reformed Church in Black Creek. Carol worked at Zwicker Knitting Mill and Appleton Awning Shop before the birth of her children. She was active in Missionary Circle, Altar Guild and Women's Guild at her church, St. John UCC, Appleton. Carol was a member of the DAV Ladies Auxiliary, participating in the Sunshine Club and sewing lap robes for veterans at King. Carol took pleasure in cooking, baking and sewing for her family. She also enjoyed traveling with Ken. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ken; her two sons: Steven (Kathy) Peters, Shawano and Neil (LaVon) Peters, Menasha; her daughter, Karen (Dan) Grosnick, Appleton; seven grandchildren: Christiane (Christopher), Carol (Tim), Connie (Mike), Stacey, Amber, Nicholas (Kristin) and Kimberly; 12 great-grandchildren: David, Amanda, Christopher, Steven, Megan, Courtney, Mason, Samuel, Emma, Maya, Lea and Aliza. Carol is also survived by a brother-in-law, Jerome Peters and a sister-in-law, Irene Peters; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her four sisters: Violet Litzkow, Loretta Litzkow, Dorothy Schomisch and Alice Runnoe; her mother and father-in-law, Arnold and Selma Peters; four brothers-in-law: Ray Brugger, Howard Runnoe, Dorward Schomisch and Orville Peters; and a sister-in-law, Georgieann Peters. A funeral service for Carol will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008, at St. John UCC (1130 W. Marquette St., Appleton) with Pastor Thomas Fritz officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family would like to thank the staff at Carolina Manor, ThedaCare at Home Hospice and Dr. David Shinkunas and his staff for all their loving care and support.
