  Kenneth R. Nooyen, age 59, of Shiocton, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on January 6, 1949, in Bellvue, son of the late Henry and Adele (Wierschke) Nooyen. On September 25th 1992, Ken was united in marriage to Marilyn Verhagen. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Ken worked at Appleton Supply for 35 years. He had a very special place in his heart for his grandson, Tyler, and his nephew, Eli. Ken is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, Ross; a grandson, Tyler; his stepchildren: Sue Srnka and Brian Kamps; and a step-grandson, Jacob Srnka. He is further survived by seven brothers: Clarence "Sam," Raymond (Joyce), Melvin (Geraldine), Marvin (Mary Ann), Henry John (Janice), Bernard and Rueben (Karla), five sisters: Joyce (Floyd) White, Shirley (Roger) Liebeck, Darlene (Richard) Stedl, Diane (Charles) Harper and Janet Estey, eight brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry (Rogene) Verhagen, Diane Verhagen, Rose (Dave) Stolzmen, Tom Verhagen, Betty (Gary) Vandenberg, Ron (Missy) Verhagen, Dan Verhagen, Randy (Lynn) Verhagen, Duane Verhagen and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell, three sisters: Edna, Dorothy, Bernice and a brother; Elliott. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the Valley Funeral Home; visitation will continue on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Funeral service for Ken will be held at 11 on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the funeral home. Ken will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park.
