  HURT BY GIBES, COMMITS SUICIDE. EL MONTE, June 29. - Unable to stand the gibes of fellow-workmen at a local creamery, who criticized him because of his Prussian sympathies, Gus Grippenthrog walked out of his residence, corner Lexington and Main streets, to the rear of his house and cut his throat yesterday. He died a few minutes later. The funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at the residence at 2 o'clock. Burial will be at the Savannah Cemetery. Los Angeles Times, June 30, 1917
