  Leonard C, Klinkner, 85, of Cashton, WI, passed to his eternal rest on Friday, December 16, 2005, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. He was born on February 10, 1920, in the Township of Jefferson, rural Monroe County, WI, to George and Lona (Schmitz) Klinkner. On September 24, 1946, he married Bernadine Brueggen at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pine Hollow, rural Cashton. Leonard and Bernadine farmed and raised their children on St. Mary's Ridge, rural Cashton. He enjoyed the outdoors and all the activities associated with farming in rural Wisconsin, including custom farm work. Leonard took special pleasure in being a self-taught meteorologist. In addition to having a wonderful sense of humor, he was an avid storyteller and recounted stories from past years with ease. During retirement he enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. Always a loving husband, father and grandfather, he took special interest in the lives of all his family members. Leonard is survived by his wife, Bernadine; four sons, Edward and special friend Kay Schmitz of Norwalk, Arnold (Linda) of Cashton, Paul (Geralyn) of Cashton, and Gerald (Ann) Klinkner of Cashton; three daughters, Margie (Orvin) Lee of Cashton, Rita (Kent) Ferrier of La Crescent, MN, and Bonnie (Dan) Pederson of West Salem; four sisters, Catherine Anselmino of Joliet, IL, Virginia (Herbert) Leis of Cashton, Edith (LeRoy) Chapiewsky of Sparta, WI, and Dorothy (Florian) Stremcha of Madison, WI; 25 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lona; one brother, Lambert Klinkner; two sisters, Loretta Berg and Dolores Klinkner. A Mass of Christian Burial planned for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton. The Rev. Eric Berns will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, with an evening prayer vigil at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. The family requests that memorials be given to the Sacred Heart Handicap Entrance Fund or to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Decorating Fund. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
