  Florian Jerome Zik, 85, resident of Brookview Meadows in Green Bay and formerly of Two Creeks, died peacefully Wednesday morning, May 13, 2009, at a Green Bay nursing home. The son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Mella) Zik was born June 27, 1923, in Two Creeks. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the 252nd Field Artillery, 9th Army in the European Theater, and Battle of the Bulge. On July 3, 1948, he married Dorothy Frances Hunsader at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Florian had been employed at Hamilton Manufacturing Company from 1941 until retiring in 1988. He purchased a farm in Two Creeks in 1950 and lived there until 2008. He was a member of the Two Creeks Volunteer Fire Dept. for 15 years. Florian was an active and devout Catholic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Two Rivers Chapter. Florian thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in his tractor and his huge garden, and shared his harvest with everyone. He was also a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his children, Barbara (Wayne) Halla, Green Bay; Robert (Karen) Zik, Corbin, Ky.; Mary Beth (David) Santo, Eden Prairie, Minn.; James (Darcy) Zik, Mt. Airy, Md.; and John (Pat) Zik, Hudson; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Zik, Waupaca; one sister-in-law, Rachel Zik, Two Rivers; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Justin David; his parents; and siblings, Raphael (Margaret) Zik, Evelyn (Orval) Schaden, Esther (David) Emond, Harry Zik, and Roland Zik; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Zik. Friends may call at SS. Edward & Isidore Church, Flintville after 9 a.m. Monday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, Fr. David Kasperek presiding with entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski is serving the Zik family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Discalced Carmelites in Denmark. The family would like to thank the staff of ManorCare West for their care of Florian.
