She was the youngest I think and he married twice didn't he? Hmm,. I had that he married Justine Schulz in about 1840 in Germany and had 2 kids, Gustave b. Nov 1842 in Posen, Germany and Michael b. Jan 1843, I thought I got some of the this information from other newspaper articles from that same area, however here is note I put in my gedcom file about Michael: I do need to prove this is son of Stephen, mother Justina as well. Newspaper articles mention several other siblings of Michael, Christina and Rosa, why doesn't Minnie's articles also mention them? It mentions 2 brothers, both families have a Gustave however, is it all one big family? Wife and Michael did not have any kids. Mother of Michael looks to be J or Gustina, who died July 1899 in Kaukauna, but article said her husband died before that, Stephen didn't, so more of a mystery yet. Mike Ristau died after the census in 1920,which works, it was taken in January. Uncle Living in the household of Klammer, William 54 b. 1866. Germany and family. need to find who married William's father in Mike house. And here is the notes I have on Stephen: Immigrated 1882 per 1900 WI, Outagamie, Little Chute census, widowed It is believed that the Ristau family moved from the Alsace Lorraine region of France at the time of the French Revolution. Family story suggests that 6 Risteau brothers lived in France at the time and 3 were beheaded and the other three escaped to Russia/Prussia area and settled there. Per Stephen's obit, came directly to Kaukauna and had 8 children, so missing 3 already. From ancestry relative to the Ristau's :) Althea, I know very little about the Ristau's but I will try to share what I know. Stephen Ristau (born Prussia Dec 1824 died Kaukauna, Wisconsin Oct 1918) married Rosalie Schoenefeldt (born Prussia 1826 died 1889 Wisconsin). Stephen and Rosalie had four children: #1: Michael (1844-1920), #2 Gustav (1853-1939) who married my Grand Aunt Rosina Hupfauf (sister to Louisa Hupfauf Miller, my great grandmother), #3 Wilhemina (Minnie) (1856-1930) and #4 Gottleib (1859-1947). Bob Ristau is 84 years old and he only has information the names of the family members (I have all of his info on my tree)except for Gustav and Rosina(his grandparents) and he does not use ancestry.com. I know he was keen to discover where the family immigrated from in Prussia but he never found that information. I am sorry that I don't have more information to aide you in your search. I have only the most basic information on any of the Ristaus. I do know that Gustav never married Louisa!! She was only married to my great grandfather, Wolf Mueller (Miller)! Also, Gustav was born in 1853 not 1842. I think that there was another Gustav Ristau that lived in Kaukauna, Wisconsin so you have to be careful not to mix them up. He owned a business (Our Gustav farmed). So Minnie Ristau and Herman Krueger were your husband's grandparents! And Stephen and Rosalie Ristau were his great grandparents. Sorry I don't have more to share. Good luck to you. So what is confusing is that if Rosalie is the mother of Michael b. 1844 and then waited 11 years to have more, I think I was in contact with another researcher besides the one above and she I agreed he married twice, If I can find the newspaper article that helps establish that and I found Augusta in the househould in census I think too. I can refer you to those. See how the one above says he had 4 children, that's part of the issue, his first 2 were born in Germany, but moved to US too. Althea
