  See Image DIED - At the residence of his son in Lomira, Dodge County, Wisconsin, on the 27th inst, Dennis Short, of Chilton, aged 70 years. The unexpected news of Mr. Short's decease was received here on Sunday evening and cast a gloom over many a heart that had a kindly feeling of love and respect for the deceased. He was born in the county of Tyrone, Ireland, but was brought up in the county of Monaghan. He emigrated to the United States in 1832 and located at Philadelphia where he resided four years; he then removed to Ohio where he remained eleven years, and in 1847 selected Dodge county for his home where he lived until about 2 ½ years ago when he concluded to make Calumet county his last resting place on earth. He was a careful, shrewd business man with a fair education, and always commanded the confidence and respect of his neighbors in every community he dwelt in. While a resident of Dodge county he several time held the responsible positions of chairman of the town Board of Supervisors and town superintendent, the duties of which offices he discharged with fidelity and zeal. Everywhere he was known as an upright and honorable man and although he lived the allotted life time of man, his death is universally regretted, but though absent from us in body his noble and virtuous examples will live forever and be guiding stars for future generations and all who believe in doing justice to their fellow men. His remains were followed by a large procession to the Catholic cemetery on Tuesday last and an appropriate sermon as well as the usual burial services were conducted by Rev. Father Andolschek.
