  Robert J. Kempen, 94, of Lakewood, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Woodland Village in Suring. He was born on September 17, 1921 in Two Rivers to Henry and Gertrude (De Bruin) Kempen. Bob married Arlene Meneau on January 21, 1961 in Rockford, IL. He was a welder/steamfitter for the Union Local 400. Bob served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1944. Bob was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lakewood. He was a real jokester, and enjoyed making people laugh. Bob loved deer hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Bob is survived by his wife Arlene of Suring, a daughter, Kathy (Randy) Clark of Laona, and sons: Ronald (Cindy) of Kimberly, James of Menasha, and stepson, Bob (Linda) Sievert of Everett, WA. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, also a sister, Grace (Raymond) Van De Hei of Seymour, and brother: He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Stella, Bertha, Marion, and brothers: Raymond, Clarence and Frances. Funeral services for Bob will be held on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Lakes Catholic Church in Lakewood. Fr. Phillip Dinh-Van-Theip will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will in the Lakewood Forest Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery.
