  Martin A. Lisowe, 80, Malone, died on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein. He was born March 7, 1930, in the Town of Brothertown, son of the late Leo and Irene (Simon) Lisowe. He married Erma G. Hansen on Nov. 29, 1950, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho. Shortly following his marriage, Martin honorably served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. Following his discharge, he returned home and continued farming in the Town of Brothertown on the family homestead. His hard-working nature kept him active and involved on the farm his entire life. He was a member of the Calumet County VFW Post #3153 and numerous Sheepshead card clubs in the area. In his younger years, Martin enjoyed snowmobiling and did a lot of hunting, especially squirrel hunting. Later in life, he enjoyed listening to Polka music, going casino-hopping and sitting on the porch with Erma admiring God's beautiful gift of the farm and all of creation. Somewhere along life's journey, Martin fell in love with Cadillac cars, a trait somewhat foreign and mysterious to other members of the family, but they always knew that Martin had that "different" quality to him. He was a fun-loving prankster, a good neighbor and an excellent father. He was always available to offer guidance and teaching to those who sought his advice and wealth of knowledge. His strength and leadership led others he came into contact with to look up to him and better themselves by his example. Survivors include his children, Merlin (Patrica) Lisowe, Chilton; Dave (Yvonne) Lisowe, Chilton; Mike (Roxane) Lisowe, Malone; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ambrose (Lorna) Lisowe, Marvin (Lucille) Lisowe; and a sister, Mary (Dave) Heller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Erma; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Alexis; and a brother and sister-in-law, Claude (Marie) Lisowe. Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Entombment will be held at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010.
