  Mrs. Mary Diedrich, 86, pioneer resident of Calumet county, died after a lingering illnes at 8 o'clock Sunday morning at her home in Hilbert. She was born January 23, 1851, in Ersch, Rhine, Preussen, Germany and came to American with her parents in November, 1862. The family settled in the town of Woodville. Mary Britten married Michael Diedrich at St. John in 1868 and the couple lived on a farm near Hilbert for 41 years before moving into the village. Mrs. Diedrich was a member of the Christian Mothers society. Surviving are five sons; George, Ladysmith; Matt, St. Cloud, Minn.; Michael, Stockbridge; John, Chilton; Nicholas, Fond du Lac; four daughters, Misses Margaret and Helen, and Mrs. Anna Jacobs, Hilbert; Mrs. Antone Escher, Fond du Lac; thirty-five grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the St. Marys church, Hilbert. The Rev. R. J. Fox will be celebrant at a solemn requiem high mass with the Rev. John Gehl, Denmark, deacon. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
