  Age 91, of Shiocton, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 at her residence. She was born on July 24, 1917 in the Town of Deer Creek, daughter of the late George and Olive (Burton) Bessette. On July 25, 1936, she married Louis A. Affeldt. He preceded her in death in 1993. Madeline farmed in the Town of Maine with her husband for many years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino. She is survived by her children: Shirley (Davey) Smith, Louis Affeldt Jr., Beverly (Roger) Wilfuer, Ray (Ellen) Affeldt, Kenneth Affeldt and special friend Juleen, and Russell Affeldt; a son-in-law: Dave Talady and a daughter-in-law Mary Lou Affeldt; sisters: Millie Brandt, Marie Seehafer and Mairlyn (Bill) Siebert; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her daughter Linda; daughters-in-law Sandy Affeldt and Sherry Affeldt; a grandson Danny Affeldt, a granddaughter Anne Smith; a great-granddaughter Valerie Biese; mother and father-in-law August (Clara) Affeldt; brothers Merlin (Jackie) Bessette, Louis (Louise) Bessette; brothers and sisters-in-law Rennie (Lydia) Affeldt, Art (Grace) Schneider and Lucille (Ray) Reader, Norman Seehafer and Willard Harbor. The Funeral Mass for Madeline will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino with Fr. Theodore Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery in New London at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
