  Agnes M. Schaefer, age 78, of 533 E. Calumet St. in Chilton, died on Saturday, February 18, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born February 19, 1927, in the Town of Stockbridge, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Bloechel) Zitzelsberger. She married Paul Schaefer on May 29, 1946, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Kloten. Agnes worked with her husband on the family homestead while raising her nine children. Paul preceded her in death on October 1, 1995. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stockbridge, the Christian Mothers, and enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, refinishing furniture and playing cards. Survivors include her children: Harvey (Jane) Schaefer of the Town of Stockbridge, Paul Jr. (Trisha Lynn) Schaefer of Hilbert, Dennis (Pat) Schaefer of Chilton, Gary (Rosemary) Schaefer of Hilbert, Diane (John) Schneider of the Town of Stockbridge, Bruce (Connie) Schaefer of Chilton, Wayne (Rebecca) Schaefer of Sherwood, James (Dawn) Schaefer of De Pere, Brenda (Tom) Peroutka of Eden Prairie, MN; 26 grandchildren: Kelly and Kyle Schaefer, Jill (Chris) Schaefer-Rozoff, Tina Schaefer and fiance Neil Sowinski, Gail Schaefer and fiance Craig Pattermann, Lisa Schaefer, Jody and Tammy Schaefer, Holly (Al) Plate, Kevin (Wanda) Schaefer, Timothy and Daniel Schaefer, Scott Schneider, Sara Schneider, Chad (Becky) Schneider, Patrick Schneider, Matthew, Andrea, and Brian Schaefer, Candice and Shane Schaefer, Parker, Paige and Paul Schaefer, and Ryan and Nathan Peroutka; three brothers: Leo (Violet) Zitzelsberger, Louis Zitzelsberger, Gilbert (Shirley) Zitzelsberger; sisters-in-law: Marian, Mavis and Agnes Zitzelsberger, Delores and Marie Schaefer; and two brothers-in-law: Clem Schaefer, Robert (Rita) Schaefer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Agnes was also preceded in death by her brothers: Lawrence (Viola), Joseph (Adeline), Adolph, Tony (Cele), Alex (Libby), Norbert and Lester Zitzelsberger; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Zitzelsberger. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stockbridge. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. when services will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Agnes M. Schaefer. The family would like to thank the staff members of Century Ridge for all of their loving care that was given to their mom.
