  Hermsen, Helen Lois - Helen was born on Dec. 11, 1914, in Peshtigo, Wis., to Ida and Grant McDowell. Helen's life was based on her strong faith in God, helping others, and a great work ethic. She was an excellent beautician, a member of the Wisconsin Bayland Telephone Company board of directors, and a giving friend and relative. She always put others first and made it a priority to have friends and family into her home for coffee and cookies or a delicious home-cooked meal. Helen let others know that her home was a place of refuge if needed. She loved it when her phone was ringing off the wall with plans for another family get-together. She was truly a thankful person who felt blessed each day by the people in her life. At the age of 91, Helen peacefully passed away on Thanksgiving Day, 2006, in Minneapolis, Minn. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was the wife of the late Gordon Hermsen; loving mother of Jean (David) Dassenko, Eden Prairie, Minn.; devoted grandmother of Sara and D.J. Dassenko; dear sister of Ruth (George) Belaire; and member of the Belaire, McDowell and Chris Hermsen families. The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to those who continued to love Helen so dearly by staying in touch. We would also like to recognize the kind nursing staff at Hillcrest of Wayzata, Minn. A private Celebration of Helen's Life is planned for Dec. 17, 2006, in Green Bay, Wis.
