Michael D. Bechard, 36, Combined Locks, entered into eternal life on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, surrounded by his loved ones at home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born Oct. 18, 1969, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Joan (Spaulding) and Donald Bechard. He married Lee Ann (Vosters) on Sept. 9, 1995, and celebrated a blessed renewing of their vows on August 19, 2006, at home with Father Patrick Beno officiating. He was a U.S. Marine stationed at Cherry Point, NC from 1988 to 1990. He was employed at Imerys, Kimberly, until his health deteriorated in July 2004, at which point he became a stay-at-home dad. Mike was an extraordinary man. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, brother, son and friend. His greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed fishing and spending time up north at his cabin with his family and dog, Reggie. Mike is survived by his wife Lee Ann; his children, Joshua Bechard (Smith), Brittany Bechard, Amber and Kevin Killian; his parents, Joan and Keith Spaulding, Donald Bechard; his sisters and their families, Margie Lato (Cole and Kristin) and Lori Kluball (Dean, Andrew, Rachel, Hannah); and his brothers, Jason and Jon Spaulding. He is further survived by his mother-in-law Doris Vosters; sisters-in-law and their families, Nancy (Bob) Nemecek, Karen (Bernie) Menting, Carol McMillan, and Mary Simpson; brothers-in-law and their families, Ken (Linda) Vosters, Bob (Vicky) Vosters, and Gary (Amy) Vosters; maternal aunts and uncles; Patricia (Roger) Schmuhl, Janice (Gary) Sy, Donald (Janet) Jagoditsh, Doreen (Jim) Evans; paternal aunts and uncles, Dan (Ginny) Bechard, Jackie (Joe) Steuck, uncle and Godfather, Jerold (Cindy) Bechard; and many cousins and friends. He is also survived by a very special aunt, Trish Hess, special cousin, Donny Jagoditsh, and special friend, Tony Murschell. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bernard Vosters, maternal grandparents, Vira Ziemer and Richard Jagoditsh, maternal aunt, Margaret Jagoditsh, and paternal grandparents, Dorothy and Russell Bechard. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post #258 of Little Chute following the mass. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. There will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service Wednesday evening at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wascher, David Bond, NP, and their associates for not only the loving care Mike was given the past 11 years, but also for believing in him.
