  Clemens A. Thorpe, age 98, of New London, passed away on Wednesday, January 07, 2009, at St. Joseph Residence in New London. Clemens was born in Shiocton, on May 10, 1910, son of the late Ernest and Janie (Coe) Thorp. On September 23, 1933, he married Ruth Herminath in New London. She preceded him in death on November 6, 1998. In retirement he especially enjoyed gardening. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. Clemens is survived by two sons: Earl (Barbara), ElCajon, CA; Larry (Donna), New London; a daughter, Corinne (Gordon) Conat, New London; a brother, Melvin Thorp, Fond du Lac; eleven grandchildren: Jim (Deniece) Thorpe, Brenda (Darryl) Dawley, Dennis Conat, Donald Conat, Robert (Andrea) Thorpe, Paul (Tammy) Thorpe, Peter (Kari) Thorpe, John (Debbie) Thorpe, Susan (Bob) Van DeHey, Lori (Tom) Hilker, and Weston (Diana) Thorpe; great-grandchildren: Kyle, Rochelle, April, Ashley, Shannon, Emily, Ryan, Kelly, Kim, Kris, Brinda, Jackie, Glenda, Jim, Andy, Alex, Eve, Amber, Brittany, Lana, Melissa, and Nicholas; great-great-grandchildren: Emma, Kendra, Jade, Hannah, Casey, Ava, Kalliegh, Vicent, Robert, Glen and Danica. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Glen, a daughter-in-law, Ruth Willis, three sisters: Kathryn Surprise, Lucille Schoepke, Marion Mason, a brother, Clair Thorpe, and also several nephews and a niece. Funeral services for Clemens will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in new London with Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, January 9, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. and also on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
