Betty Jean Gonnering, passed peacefully on August 12th 2015 from a long battle with Parkinson's, she was 85. At her bedside was her daughter Kim Lombardi and Great-granddaughter Kaija Censotti. Betty died at 8:45 pm at Lexington Nursing Home located at 900 S. Rand Rd. in Lake Zurich, IL. Betty (Bell) Gonnering was born in Merrill Wisconsin Nov 27, 1929 to Eugene C. and Jessie R. (Youngs) Bell, Betty was the youngest of 14 children. Betty was preceded in death by her 13 brothers and sisters; Alvin, Anna, Teddy, William, Clarence, Nathando, Walter, Margaret, Nathaniel, James, Eugene, Harry, Robert and granddaughter Margaret Mae Gonnering. Betty was married 61 years to her beloved husband Donald N. Gonnering on August 20th, 1949 at Saint Francis Church, Merrill. Betty's husband Donald passed Dec 12th 2010 from Alzheimer's. They spent most of their married lives living in Appleton Wisc. Both Betty and Don moved to Illinois in 2006 to live with their daughter Kim. They are survived by their three children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Eldest son Michael J. Gonnering and his wife Ellen (Pinchar) Gonnering plus their two daughter's; Ricia (William) Hager and Chelsea Gonnering. Son, Jeffery L. Gonnering and ex-wife Judy Martell's daughter's; Charlotte Gonnering, Rachael (Sami) El Naggar, Rebecca Gonnering and our beautiful Margaret Mae Gonnering born July 25th, 1981 and passed on July 30th, 1981 (we love and miss you Margaret Mae!). Daughter, Kim Lombardi and ex-husband Harold Censotti's daughter, Jessica A. Censotti and Betty's only great granddaughter Kaija Censotti. Betty's daughter recently married Richard Lombardi and Betty enjoyed all the festivities. Prior to marriage Betty worked a Secretary in Merrill. Betty loved to journal, she kept diaries of her vacation's she'd taken throughout the years; she had so much fun and enjoyed the company of all her traveling companions. Betty was loved and blessed with so many friends; at Lexington, Betty's nick name was Miss Hollywood, they truly adored her (Betty was a beautiful women inside and out) everyone remembers Betty's great sense of humor, trivia and witty one liners. Betty loved music, playing organ, dancing and singing, she had the voice of an angel. Betty loved cooking and boy oh boy was she good at it! Her children never missed a meal growing up. She especially enjoyed playing cards and scrabble, Betty and her niece Lori would play scrabble and laugh into the wee hours of the evening. We were all blessed to have known Betty, she loved her friends and family deeply and we felt it. Betty's daughter Kim said she felt honored to have spent Betty's last years together, I had the time of my life and will cherish every moment we shared together. Thank you for being an amazing mother and friend, love you forever and ever mom! See you soon, meanwhile, you will be deeply missed by all!! Services and Visitation will be held Wednesday the August the 26th; Located at Saint Claire's Church 2218 Day St Greenleaf, WI.
