  Menomonee Farmer Instantly Killed. John Wick, well known Menomonee farmer, met instant death shortly before noon Monday. He and his son, Leander, were engaged in cutting down a tree on the premises and had nearly severed the trunk, the upper portion of which had broken off during a storm last summer. The broken portion was still attached to the tall stump. The son was driving a wedge into the cut when at the first tap of the x the trunk snapped striking the elder Wick in the head and nearly reducing it to pulp. Coroner John Schaeffel was called but no inquest was held. The funeral took place this (Thursday) morning at 9 o'clock from St. Anthony's church, Fussville, with interment in the church cemetery, the Rev. Falsbisoner officiating at the last sad rites. Mr. Wick was born in the town of Menomonee, April 26, 1873 and in a little over a month, would have celebrated his 62 birthday. He is survived by his widow, Ottlia nee Hoffman; four sons, Phillip, Joseph, Milwaukee, Alphonse and Leander; three daughters, Mrs. Matt Reihle and Mrs. Henry Weber of this village and Miss Josephine who together with her brother, Leander, are at home. Deceased lived all his life in his native town and for the past 36 years occupied the Hoffman homestead. He was engaged in dairying and took lively interest in the promotion of that industry in this sections of the state.
