      Unless you have some reason to believe that Alice F. Cline was a Nicollet County resident, I will stop searching for her obituary, because I have not been able to find it in the St. Peter newspaper. Her obituary should be in the newspaper of the community in which she was a resident. She may have died in Nicollet County, but she may not have been a resident of Nicollet County. I can search again if you are able to provide me with information about her place of residence at the time of her death, if she was a Nicollet County resident, but not if she lived in another county.
      For now, I will send you some census information from Ancestry.com that appears to be about Alice and her family. Looking at these records, it may be that Alice remained a resident of St. Paul until the time of her death. She does not appear in the St. Peter telephone books, but I can not check other communities in Nicollet County unless you wish to pay for the research. Our fee is twenty dollars per hour. Nicollet County also had newspapers in Lafayette and in Nicollet. Obituaries of people who lived in other parts of the county may be found in the Mankato Free Press (Blue Earth County) or the New Ulm Journal (Brown County).

      Bob, Thanks so much for your time, and let me know if I need to send you a check for the time you spent on this. The next reasonable step is to spend more time with St Paul records, starting with newspaper obituaries. When I last made a trip to the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison, I found the St Paul obit on her son, Paul, from 1941. I have no other connection of Alice F Cline to Nicollet County other than the death index record, so it's prudent not to continue with further research until I've exhausted St Paul records.

      There is no fee for the work that I did for you, but donations are always welcome for any nonprofit organization such are our historical society. One thing that I did not mention earlier was the fact that St. Peter is the home of the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center, which was formerly known as the St. Peter State Hospital. It is possible that Alice may have been a patient at the hospital at the time of her death. That would mean that her death certificate would most likely be here in Nicollet County. To find out, you can contact the Nicollet County Recorder's Office at 507-934-0320. The mailing address is: Recorder's Office, Nicollet County Government Center, 501 South Minnesota Avenue, St. Peter, MN 56082. I could do this for you, but it would be more efficient and less expensive for you to do it yourself. The only other possibility that I can come up with is that she may have been visiting in St. Peter or passing through St. Peter on the way to some other place.
      If you find that there is something else that you think that I may be able to help you with, please let me know. In the meantime, I wish you good luck with your search!
