Florentine A. Doll, 88, of Tomah and formerly of Norwalk, died March 7, 2009, at the Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta. She was born July 4, 1920, to Bernard and Margaret (Rondorf) Leis at Brush Creek in the Township of Jefferson. She was united in marriage to Victor C. Doll on April 7, 1942, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wilton. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2004. Florentine farmed with her husband in the Township of Sheldon. After retiring from farming they moved to the Village of Norwalk. Since December of 2004, she has been living at the Greenfield House. She was a faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, serving on the Altar Society; she took care of the altar flowers for many years. Florentine had a great love of music, she enjoyed listening to and playing the guitar and concertina. She was a member of the Cozy Nook Homemakers Club and often volunteered at the Norwalk Community food shelf. She enjoyed sewing and sewed a lot for her family and neighbors. She loved cooking, especially making cookies for her grandchildren. Florentine was a cancer survivor for many years. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She is survived by four sons, Delmar (Alice) of Norwalk, William (Jeanne) of Tomah, Ronald (Diane) of Kendall, and John (Jean) of Norwalk; two daughters, Marian (Fay "Duke") Brieske of Tomah and Shirley Tainter of Norwalk; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerome (Pam) Leis of Norwalk; two sisters, Bernadette (Robert) Heilman of La Crosse and Julie (Lyle) Karis of West Allis; three sisters-in-law, Joan Leis of Chippewa Falls, Irene Brueggeman of Sparta and Myrtle (Larry) Geier of Tomah; two brothers-in-law, Sylvan Doll of Beloit and Tom Mlsna of Sparta, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Norbert and Francis, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Norwalk. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends called at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 702 Center St., Wilton, on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A rosary was recited on Monday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
