  See Image LeRoy J. Leis, 81, of rural Coon Valley died Wednesda y, May 26, 2004, in Madison. He was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Monroe Count y, Wis., to Anton and Anna (Marx) Leis. He graduated from Cashton High Sch ool in 1941. On Oct. 10, 1944, he married Joyce Dunn at St. Peter and Pa ul Catholic Church in Pine Hollow near Cashton, Wis. The couple farm ed in the area until 1973. LeRoy then worked as a custodian for Holy Cro ss Seminary in La Crosse, retiring after 15 years. For a number of yea rs he cared for Joyce at home during her struggle with Alzheimer's, a nd he visited her every day for the five years she was a resident of Norse land Nursing Home in Westby. Joyce died Jan. 18, 2001.LeRoy was a woodworking artist and also enjoyed playing cards.Survivors include eight children, Larry (Barb) Leis, Carol Lee, Linda (Iva n) Kunert, Gary (Martha) Leis, Denise (Randy) Gilbertson, Daniel Leis, Ma ry (Richard) Myhre and Ethel (Rick) Johnson; 22 grandchildren and 14 great -grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert (Virginia) Leis, Paul (Donna) Lei s, James (Rosie) Leis and Kenneth (Lillian) Leis; two sisters, Marie (Glen n) Whitehead and Roseanne (John) Hundt; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ma rk; a granddaughter, Katelyn; one brother, Walter; and one sister, Eleanor .A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 29, at 11 a.m. at S t. Mary's Catholic Church in Coon Valley. The Rev. Michael Klos will offic iate, with burial in St. Joseph's Ridge Catholic Cemetery, rural La Cross e. Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Seland Funeral Home in Co on Valley, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and at the church Saturd ay from 10 a.m. until service time.
