  Leander E. Roehrig, 84, Hilbert, died on Friday, April 6, 2007, at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Marytown, son of the late Edgar and Salome (Casper) Roehrig. Leander attended Chilton High School and later, he married Mildred Gruber on May 10, 1944, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. The couple farmed together in Chilton and later in Hilbert until 1951. Leander then opened Roehrig Insurance where he began selling insurance and working in real-estate, until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert, the Hilbert Fire Department, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Foresters, Holy Name Society, and was the former president of the Hilbert Chamber of Commerce. Leander loved his Green Bay Packers and was a season ticket holder since the Packers were playing in the City Stadium. He also enjoyed deer hunting and was an avid Skat and Sheepshead player. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; seven children, Dennis (Grace) Roehrig, Hilbert; Lyle (Arlene) Roehrig, St. Nazianz; Sandy (John) Ritzke, Appleton; Gladys (Tom) Jacobson, Viroqua; Gloria (Dennis) Halbach, Hilbert; Tom (Jean) Roehrig, Hilbert; Nancy (Lee) Probst, Hilbert; 19 grandchildren, Judd, Jason, Mark, Jon, Todd Roehrig, Michael, Jessica, Kevin Ritzke, Marisa Buros, Lynn, Joanna Jacobson, Cheri Higgins, Brian Halbach, Jenny Camp, Joe Halbach, Kelly, Sara Roehrig, Nicholas Probst, Jacqueline Probst; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Edward, Lester and Richard Roehrig; and two sisters, Elsie Dorn and Grace Wirth. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2007, and on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at the Church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. when service will be held.
