Age 84, Appleton, passed away at home peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Don was born November 18, 1928 in LaGrange, WI to the late George and Frances (Cooper) Brereton. He graduated from White Water High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Don proudly served his country as a flight engineer during the Berlin Lift and Korean War. After the War he met and married Florella Daisy Hermanson on October 22, 1955. His last 15 years of work were spent at Air Wisconsin as an A/P until retiring in 1994. Don loved bird watching, traveling with his wife and was a jokester. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Daisy of almost 58 years; son, William (Jeanne) Brereton, Appleton; daughter, Sherry (Jerry) Van Grinsven, Hortonville; granddaughter, Krystal Van Grinsven, Hortonville; a great granddaughter Karlee Nenning, Hortonville; sisters: Ruth Meeth, Mary Murdock and Nancy Kiepert. Don was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: William, Robert and John and a grandson, Nick Van Grinsven. Funeral Services for Don will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Pruitt officiating. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm on Tuesday. Military Honors will follow the service. A memorial fund is being established. Published in Appleton Post-Crescent from March 8 to March 10, 2013
