Jerry had something that you had put together for him in which you sta ted the birthplace of Theodore Van Rixel and Annie Vandenberg. My grandfa ther, Gilbert Van Rixel, was the youngest son of Theodore Van Rixel and An nie Vandenberg. Gilbert was 14 years old and was with Theodore when he di ed in the horse and buggy while on the way back from town. My mother, w ho is Gilbert's daughter, is still living and is 94 years old. She liv es in her own home and is alert and able to get out. She has a sist er in a nursing home who will be 93 the end of March. They are the only o nes left of that generation (Theodore and Annie's grandchildren). I would be interested in the birthplace of Theodore and Annie. I rememb er your research saying something about Brabant. I would appreciate know ing any dates and places you have for them. I have never been ab le to establish the area that the Van Rixels were from. Theodore was bo rn in 1827 and died March 6, 1889 in Freedom, Outagamie, Wisconsin. Ann ie was born in 1828 and died June 12, 1910 in Freedom. The Van Rixels ca me to this country aboard a ship named the Astracan. The ship sailed fr om Rotterdam arriving in New York on January 4, 1853. At the time of sail ing, Theodore was 27 years old and Annie was 25. According to my mothe r, Hazel, at the time they sailed they had an infant child with them. T he baby died during the voyage and was buried at sea. New York
