  ERNEST MOEHRING, who is the owner of 289 acres of fine farming land in Bovina township, has been engaged in agricultural pursuits in Outagalmie cou nty for. a period covering thirty-seven years. He is a native of German y, born May 12, 1850, a son of Carl and 'Christina. Moehring, who spent their lives in the Fatherland.Ernest Moehring, who was the third of his parents' eight children, ca me to the United States when he was nineteen years of age and first settl ed in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where he spent five years at the cooper's trad e. He then located in Outagamie county, purchasing forty acres in Bovina t ownship, on which he built a.log house and barn, and during the seven yea rs that he lived on this property he cleared and put under cultivation twe nty-five acres.Selling the first farm, he purchased 160 acres, a. part of the farm he n ow owns, about twenty-five acres' of this land having been cleared and a l og house and barn standing on the premises. He has been engaged in farmi ng here to the present time, and has added to his property by purcha se at various periods, now owning 289 acres in section 4, of which 100 acr es are cleared and fenced with barbed and woven wire. In addition to th is he also owned a forty-acre tract which he deeded to his son, the latt er now being engaged in farming it. Mr. Moehring has remodeled both the ba rn and the house, making them modern, substantial structures, and has al so erected other buildings and installed a ten-horsepower gasoline engi ne to do the pumping of water, grinding of corn and operating the separato r.He has engaged in general farming, and specializes in dairying and hog rai sing, having the genuine Poland-China breed.In 1871, Mr. Moehring was married to Miss Josephine Moehrle, who was bo rn April 26, 1851, in Wisconsin, whence her parents had come from Germa ny at an early date. Nine children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Moehrin g, namely: George, who married Mattie Nagle, residing in Outagamie count y; John, who married Ida Iobern living in Evanston, Illinois, the fath er of one child; Josephine, who married Gust Schiebe, also of Evanston, ha ving three children; Lena, who married Robert Henry, living in Outagamie c ounty, to whom have been born two children; Martha, who married Frank Minc k, living in California, the mother of two children; Jennie, who married G eorge Brown of Outagamie county, having two children; Bernhardt, who is si ngle and living at home; Richard, who married Mary Green, living in Outaga mie county; and Alfred, who is single and living with his father. Mr. Moeh ring is a republican in politics and has served as assessor and road commi ssioner a number of times. The family are members of the Luthearn Church at Shiocton.
