  See Image Van Asten, Martin A.,FreedomAge 92, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Parkside Care Cent er in Little Chute with his family at his side. He was born on July 20, 19 11 in Freedom, Wisconsin the son of the late Henry J. and Caroline (Dau l) Van Asten. On November 19, 1936 he married Josephine Van Handel in Litt le Chute, and they enjoyed 65 years together. She preceded him in dea th on April 20, 2002. He owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town Of On eida, Wisconsin all of his life until he retired in 1975. He was a lifeti me member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Martin was a dedicat ed farmer and truly loved working the land and working with his dairy catt le.He is survived by his sons: Merlin (Janice) Van Asten, and Marvin (Mary) V an Asten all of Freedom, Carl (Sharon) Van Asten and Wayne (Anne) Van Ast en all of Appleton, Lyle Van Asten of Wrightstown, and Jack (Paulene) V an Asten of Freedom; his daughters Delores Mischler and Lois (Lloyd) Schue ssler all of Kaukauna; 33 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; a brot her William (Marion) Van Asten of Freedom, his sisters: Mary Vander Heide n, and Alma (Orville) Vanevenhoven, and Rosella (Joseph) Vander Heiden, a nd a brother-in-law Leo Micke all of Kaukauna. He was preceded in dea th by his wife, his parents, a daughter Carol in infancy, three grandchild ren, two sisters Blanche (Edward) Van Handel, and Josephine Micke, his bro thers Raymond and Clarence Van Asten, and a brother-in-law Leo Vander Heid en.A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, December 13, 20 03 at 12:00 Noon at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom with the Re v. Dennis Ryan officiating. Interment will take place at St. Nicholas Cath olic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home in Kaukauna on F riday from 4-8 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the ti me of the Mass. Parish prayer and scripture services will be at 7:30 PM Fr iday at the funeral home.
