  Schuh, Gustave (Gust) N. S t. Paul Home, Formerly of 601 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna. On October 12, 1910 a fifth son was born to Peter J. and Anna (Schmitt) Schuh in Freedom, Wisconsin. They baptized him Gustave Nicholas Schuh. He grew up on the homestead farm on Center Valley Road and attended St. Nicholas grade school., where he was an avid learner. As a young man, he and his brother, Ignatius built barns in the Darboy and Sherwood areas. Gust worked in area cheese factories in the early 1930's and on July 17, 1933 he obtained his "Wisconsin Cheesemakers License."On June 13, 1934 he married Agnes Marie DeBruin in St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute, Wisconsin. They lived in Kaukauna and shared 50 years of marriage before she passed away on June 15, 1984, two days after their golden anniversary. Gust worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for 40 years until his retirement in 1975. He was the lead janitor of the lower mill. During his years at the mill, he took great pride in his work, both indoors and out. Gust was an avid gardener who raised a wide variety of vegetables and flowers. Anyone who walked by his home was sure to notice his lovely flowerbed. He supplied the altar flowers for many special occasions at Holy Cross Catholic Church. His Madonna and Regal liliesw ere beyond compare. He loved sharing his produce with the family and neighbors. He and Agnes loved playing with their children and later their grandchildren. They taught their children and grandchildren many card games, especially cribbage. He was dealt a "perfect" hand twice while playing at his son's house. Gust was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Thilmany Quarter Century Club.Gust and Agnes brought six children into this world, five boys and a girl, who survive him: James and Rosemary Schuh, Freedom and their seven children: Julie (Tony) Roskom, Jeanne (George) Garrity, Jackie (Andy) Meschisen, Jeff (Megan) Schuh, Jill Jones, Janiece (Ken) Zastrow, and Jon Schuh; John and Sharon Schuh, Kaukauna and their four children: Brian (Tara) Schuh, Kurt (Gloria) Schuh, Ellen Schuh and Ann (Sean) McDaniel; Richard and Margaret Schuh, Texas and their four children: Steve Schuh, Debbie (Pat) McCarthy, Ken (Pam) Schuh and Ron (Amy) Schuh; Charles and Barbara Schuh, Kaukauna and their three children: Joe (Heidi) Schuh, Nick (Diane) Schuh and Karen (Greg) Hartjes; Mary and Gerald Van Domelen, Kaukauna and their two children: Jason (Cheryl) Kelly-Van Domelen and Laura Van Domelen and Martin and Susan Schuh, Kaukauna and their two children: Ben Schuh and Josh (Brook) Schuh. Gust is further survived by three brothers and a sister: Rev. Earl J. Schuh, Green Bay; Peter (Lucille) Schuh, Freedom; Calixta (Andrew) Vosters, Little Chute and Arthur (Mildred) Schuh, Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Helen Schuh, Appletono; and Ceil Schuh, Pulaski; 35 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.On February 17, 2002 while Gust was surrounded by the love of his family, God sent a special angel to escort him into the next life. There to meet him at the door were his parents: Peter and Anna (Schmitt) Schuh; his wife, Agnes (DeBruin) Schuh, a grandson, Nathaniel Richard Schuh; four brothers and a sister-in-law: Clement Schuh, Ignatius (Martha) Schuh, Raymond Schuh and Servanus Schuh; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Clara (Casper) Schauer and Anna (Henry) Vosters; and his wife's brothers and sisters and their spouses.Visitation will be at the Fargo Funeral Home on Wisconsin Avenue in Kaukauna on Tuesday, February 19 from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m. There will also be visitation on Wednesday, February 20 at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 2 until 4 p.m. when the Mass of the Resurrection, which will be concelebrated by Rev. Earl J. Schuh and Rev. John T. Mullarkey will be held. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials to Holy Cross Catholic Parish, Holy Cross Catholic School and Appletree Court (at the St. Paul Home), are being established. Special thanks to all of the wonderful caregivers at St. Paul Elder Services who treated our dad like he was their own. The entire staff of St. Paul Elder Campus and Appletree Court, along with Fr. Jack Mullarkey and Fr. Jim Lucas helped to make dad's final days peaceful and his journey home an easier one. "In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing.
