    Notes
    • On 4 December 1852, Agatha Breidenbach was married to Martin Von Ruden. (Agatha was baptized "Maria-Agatha" in Oesdorf, Germany, but she was known as "Agatha" in America records.) Although the wedding was performed in Eagle Township of Waukesha County, Wisconsin, the official record of their marriage was recorded in the adjoining Jefferson County. The Breidenbach and Von Ruden marriage and two others which Justice of the Peace Michael ?Kreider performed on 4 December 1852 were recordedjn Jefferson, Wisconsin on 27 December 1852.

"Be it remembered that on the 4th day of December AD 1852 in the town of Eagle Waukesha County Mr. Martin von Rider of the town of Eagle or Eagle Centre and Miss Agatha Breiden¬bach of Eagle Centre were with their mutual consent legaly joined together in holy Matrimony which was Solemnized by me in the presence of John Harding and Fredrick Gose of Eagle Centre T. of Eagle attending witnesses having first been Satisfied by the oath duly administered by me that there was no legal impediment to such marriage."

On 20 November 1852, Agatha's fiance' Martin Von Ruden sold 120 acres of land in Eagle Township of Waukesha County, Wisconsin to her brother Frederick who was married to Martin's sister Theresa. According to the warranty deed on file in the Waukesha County Courthouse (DEEDS Book #12, page 372), "Martin Van Reedon" sold the land described as the N 1/2§1/4 and the SE 1/4NW1/4 of Sec. 2O-T5-R17N for $100, as well as making the following provisions for his parental family:

"Friederich (Breidenbach) shall always give and furnish John Van Reedon and Elizabeth his wife, father and mother of the party of the first part, such suitable and sufficient cloth¬ing, boarding and bedding, also 2 fat hogs, 2 milk cows and 1 lb. stocking yarn, and such sum of money as they may be in want of for the purpose of making journeys to Milwaukee and elsewhere the sum total which shall not exceed $15 a year and shall be yearly during the natural lifetime and that Friederich Breidenbach shall cause Bernhard Von Readon, Brother of the party of the first part, to learn a trade or profession such as he may be inclined thereto at the ex¬pense of the part of the 2nd part and all of the children of the said John Van Readon and Elizabeth his wife shall have free access to and in the dwelling house of the said Friedrich
Breidenbach until the said children are 21 years of age and
if Mary Ann Van Readon shall get married the said Friedrich
shall pay to Antony Von Readon the sum of $50 to Conrad Von Reedon $30 when they each become of age in 3 years by installment and if the said Antony or Conrad shall both or either wish to learn a trade, the said party of the first part shall cause them to be taught in the profession or trade they wish, but in that case the said Friedrich Breidenbach shall not be
liable to pay the said sum or sums"

The warranty deed with its unusual provisions for the care of the seller's parents AND the apprenticeships for the seller's brothers was signed by "Martin V. Ruden" on 20 November 1852, but recorded on 13 June 1853 by Alfred Galpin, Justice of the Peace
