Mongin Jr., Arthur H.Age 95, passed away Friday, December 19, 2003, at the St. Paul Home. Art w as born in Green Bay on February 23, 1908, the son of the late Arthur a nd Nettie (Schroeder) Mongin, Sr. He graduated from St. Norbert High Scho ol as well as the Professor Mayer School of Pharmacy at Marquette Universi ty in Milwaukee. On June 25, 1936, Art married the former Mabel Look in Gr een Bay; she preceded him in death November 23, 1996. Art became a Registe red Pharmacist in 1930, and was a past member Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Ass ociation, the American Pharmaceutical Association and the National Associa tion of Retail Druggists. In December of 1932, he accepted employment at L ook Drug Stores, Kaukauna, and was a partner with Arthur C. Look from 1948 -1952, and then with Lorraine E. Look, until 1957. He served as the Presid ent of Look Drug Stores, Inc. from May 1, 1957 ,until he semi-retired on A pril 1, 1977. Art fully retired on December 31, 1992. Art was the only sur viving Charter Member of the Kaukauna Lions Club where he also held the of fices of Past President and Past Secretary. He also served as a Past Zo ne Chairman for Lions Clubs International, District 27b, was awarded the M elvin Jones Fellowship and the Birch-Sturm Fellowship. Art was a Charter M ember, Past President, and Bulletin Editor for the Fox Valley Golf Club, h aving been active from 1946 to 1993. He was proud to have penned “The Sto ry of Fox Valley Golf Club” which was published in 1986. In addition, he w as the author of two biographical sketches, “Memories I” and “Memories I I” which were written for his children, grandchildren and great grandchild ren. Art had just recently completed “Memories III”. Everyone knew of Art ’s interest in the Green Bay Packers, which began in 1919. Then, at the a ge of 11, he saw the early games where the hat was passed around and lat er went ‘over the fence’ as a youngster. He saw them play at Hagemeister P ark, Bellevue Park, City Stadium, and finally at Lambeau Field. Art we nt to all the championship games in the first glory years: 1929, 1930, 193 1, as well as 1936, 1939, and 1944 in the Lambeau era, 1961, 1962, 1964, 1 965, 1966, and Super Bowls I and II in the Lombardi era. Art established t he Green Bay Packer Ticket Agency at Look Drug Stores from 1934-1964, whe re he sold a record total of 1,163 season tickets annually. He was elect ed to the Green Bay Packer Board of Directors in 1950 where he served unt il 1986 and then became Director Emeritus until the time of his death.Arthur is survived by two daughters: Susan (Glen) Hinkens and Muriel (Rona ld) Merbach, both of Kaukauna; six grandchildren: Emilie (Dr. William) Boo ts, David (Julie) Hinkens, Catherine (Douglas) Senso; Anne (Robert) Krautk ramer, Michael (Lisa) Merbach, and Daniel (Angela) Merbach; eleven great-g randchildren: Elizabeth, Jennifer and Benjamin Boots; Drew and Darren Hink ens; Abigail and Nathaniel Senso; Stephanie and Julia Krautkramer; and Lou is and Alexis Merbach. He is further survived by one sister: Antoinette Ba con of Green Bay; one brother: James (Ilene) Mongin of Green Bay; one sist er-in-law: Leone Mongin of Appleton. Other survivors include his wife’s fa mily: sisters-in-law Dorothy Mills of Roswell, Georgia and Katharine Lo ok Beyer and her husband Marvin Beyer of Marshfield.Arthur was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mabel; one br other: Norbert Mongin; a brother-in-law: Bernard Bacon; his wife’s brother s: Walter (Hilda) Look, George Look, and Arthur (Lorraine) Look; his wife ’s sisters: Elsie Mae (Ralph Waldo) Emerson, Norma Look, Lucille (Willia m) Smith.The funeral liturgy for Art will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2 3, 2003 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with F r. Robert Udulutsch, OFM, Cap. officiating. Interment will be in the pari sh cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday afterno on from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memor ial fund has been established in his name.The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff at S t. Paul Elder Services.
