  Delzer, Donald D. Donald D. Delzer, New London, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, May 6, 2007, at his residence. Donald was born June 22, 1930, in New London, son of the late Albert and Helinda (Schroeder) Delzer. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Close on January 9, 1954. Don served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1953, where he proudly stood guard over Air Force One. He worked as a carpenter most of his life, retiring from NWRCC Local Union 955. Don was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking crafts for family and friends and tending to his flower garden. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; four sons: Dan (Mel) Delzer, Lee (Judy) Delzer, Ken (Trina) Delzer, and Gary (Karla) Delzer; three brothers: Earldean Delzer, Marlyn (Kay) Delzer, and Gordon (Sheila) Delzer, eight grandchildren: Kara, Hope (Fiance Matt Gieseke), Haley, Christopher, Adam, Matthew, Nathan and Derek and a great-grandchild Austin; two half-sisters: Ione Falk and Evelyn (Melvin) Kamke; special cousin Stevie Morack; special nephew Harlan Wright, special friends: Tim and Sheri Stephani and Lisa Delzer, Mark Kurszewski and Mikey, special friends and neighbors, Tom and Darlene and Lee and Rosie, also numerous other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by stepmother Leona Delzer, son Roger, grandson Erich, sister Imogene Wright, sister in-law Alice Delzer, half sister Maxine Kamke, half brother Gilbert Delzer, and a step brother David Thorton. Also his beloved hunting partners Sadie and Harley and his furry feline friend Joey. Funeral services for Don will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 7 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Gordon Lane officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
