United States Navy Chief Petty Officer, Patrick L.Wade, 38, of Oak Harbor, Wash., formerly of Manawa, passed away on July 17, 2007, as a result of a roadside bomb in Iraq. Patrick was there in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Patrick was born on Aug. 13, 1968, in Appleton. He attended Little Wolf High School in Manawa, where he participated in football, wrestling and band until graduating in 1987. From there, he joined the Navy and excelled as an EOD technician, a job that took him all over the world. Patrick was a 20-year veteran who was very much looking forward to Christmas this year. He was awarded the Bronze Star, V for Valor, and the Purple Heart. Patrick lived all 38 years of his life to the absolute fullest, indulging in many activities such as hunting, fishing, traveling, collecting, staying physically fit, as well as a love for photography. We will all miss Patrick's contagious smile, upbeat personality, his love for life, his motivation, and his addiction to pulling pranks on people. He loved his job, and everything he was doing. He loved his family dearly, marrying his soul mate, Keri York, on April 19, 2003, at the Admiral Kidd Club in San Diego, CA. He is survived by his wife, Keri, and their two lovely daughters: Noelle (3), and Esme (1), all of Oak Harbor, Wash.; his mother, Shirley, Manawa; two brothers: Gary (Ann), Royalton; Scott, Florida; his sister, Cheryl, Stoughton; a special family friend, Joe (Florida). He is also survived by his family by marriage, Bob and Kathy York, CA; Melissa, WA; Kyle and Jessica, CA; grandparents: John McCann, CA; Robert and Nancy York, UT; Patrick has several nieces and nephews, including: Ashley, Heather, Derek, Sabrina, Samantha, and Tristen; and numerous other family members and special friends all over the world who hold him deeply in their hearts. Patrick was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (killed in 1993 while on active duty in Japan); grandparents, Steve and Cecilia Csida, Barbara York , CA; and Doris McCann, CA. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, in the gymnasium at Little Wolf High School, Manawa, with pastor Pam officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Baylake Bank in Patrick's honor at 431 S. Bridge St., Manawa, WI 54949. The public is welcome. "Patrick, you were our light and hope, you were taken away from us all too soon. We were all fortunate to spend our time with you. Although we can't say 'see you soon,' we know that now you are safe."
