  Dennis J. Van Roy, 59, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Dennis was born Dec. 24, 1947, in Green Bay and was a 1966 graduate of Preble High School. In 1968, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and received his Honorable Discharge in 1974. Dennis married Paula Dreger on May 29, 1971, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Eagle River and was employed at Proctor and Gamble for 31 years, retiring at the age of 49. He was a member of the Corvettes of the Bay and loved sports cars, especially convertibles. Dennis was a die-hard Packer fan and enjoyed deer hunting and bowling. Survivors include his loving wife, soul-mate and best friend, Paula; two children, Jessica (Shawn) Rea, Green Bay; and Dennis (Lynn) Van Roy Jr., Champion, and their son, Owen; brothers and sisters, Lee (Nancy) Van Roy, De Pere; Rita (John) Frisque, New Franken; Nancy Van Roy, De Pere; Gary (Sue) Van Roy, Oconto Falls; and Kevin (Maureen) Van Roy, Pulaski. Dennis is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan (Chuck) Pace, Bob (Rhonda) Dreger, Phil Dreger, Tom (Laurel) Dreger, Trudy (Frank) Bonack, Mickey (Wendie) Dreger, Rickey Dreger, and Louie (Val) Dreger, all of Eagle River; Charlotte (Lenny) Carini, Rita (Joe) Maniscalco, Clare (Jim) Biedenbender and Tish Lardnois, all of Milwaukee; Betty (Jim) Hoover, Marie (Dick) Neuses and Justine "Tina" Dreger, all of Green Bay; Helene VanOteghem, Moline, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Alice Van Roy; mother and father-in-law, Louis and Agnes Dreger; one sister-in-law, Donene Dreger; and other relatives. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St. on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the funeral cortege leaves for church. There will be an American Legion service followed by a parish prayer service Sunday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Church, Holy Martyrs site, 3562 Finger Rd. with Rev. Ron Belitz officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. A memorial in Dennis' name is being established. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Drs. Anthony Jaslowski and Manar Alshahrouri for their care and compassion.
