  b>Bongert, Esther M. Esther M. Bongert, age 82, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007, at the Bethel Home. She was born on August 24, 1925, in Ogdensburg, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Louie and Elnora (Oppor) Jensen. Esther married George F. Bongert Sr. on May 21, 1949, in Oshkosh. George preceded her in death on July 4, 2000. She was a longtime member of St. John Catholic Church in Oshkosh and greatly enjoyed crafts, collected antique glassware, loved her stuffed animal collection and helped run the family farm. Her memory will be cherished by her sons, George F. (Cheryl Pope) Bongert Jr. and Roger (Sylvia) Bongert, both of Oshkosh; a daughter, Nancy (Steve VanSchyndel) Bongert also of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Brian (Lenore) Bongert, Brenda (Michael) Beck, Bonnie (Jesse) Sperberg-Bongert, Lacey Bongert; Noel (David) Phelps, Kim (Mark) Stevenson and Ross Bongert; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Autumn Beck; Kelsey, Sydney and Grace Phelps, Kaleb and Kiley Stevenson. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters. Funeral services for Esther will be held on Friday evening, December 21, 2007, at 7 p.m. at the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Avenue with the Reverend Fr. William VanDeKreeke officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The Bongert family will greet friends during a time of visitation and support at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established in her name. The family wishes that a special thank you be extended to the staff at the Bethel Home for the tender care given to Esther while she resided there. Esther suffered with physical ailments for a good number of years and demonstrated courage and strength in dealing with the pain and daily struggles. Esther was very compassionate toward others and had empathy for people whose lives had taken a tragic turn, even if she did not personally know them. Our Heavenly Father has called her to His comforting arms and has ended her pain and suffering here on earth.
