Jean M. Leis, 66, of Sparta died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born on January 9, 1944 in Sparta to Matthew and Marie (Steinhoff) Dinger. She grew up on Summit Ridge and graduated from Brookwood High School in 1962. She married Clifford Leis on May 25, 1968 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Summit Ridge. After marriage they moved to the Town of Sparta and have lived there all of their married lives. Jean has worked at Northern Engraving the past 47 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Clifford of Sparta; children, Tommy (Trisha) Leis of West Salem, WI, Todd (Nicole) Leis of Stoughton, WI, Jennifer (Wayne) Zillmer of Fifield, WI; six grandchildren, Kyle Leis, Breanna Zimmerman, Haily Leis, Tyler Leis, Shelby Zillmer, Wyatt Zillmer; three sisters, Joan (Gerald) Koltermann of Sparta, Irene (Leon) Leis of Sparta, and Shirley Hansen of Sparta. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sparta with Father Ed Shuttleworth officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Lanham- Miller Funeral Home, Sparta is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
