  Leslie Hanson, born Sept. 22, 1915, in Appleton, Wis., 93 years young, passed away Dec. 5, 2008, at N.E. Florida Community Hospice. Pre-deceased by his wife of 59 years, Edna Bell Hanson, nee Snow, in 2001, and survived by a brother, Erwin L. Hanson, Weyauwega, Wis. He was survived by his four children, James J. (Kay) Hanson, Avondale, Ariz.; Mary Lou Vredenburg, Jacksonville, Fla.; Richard A. (Georgia) Hanson, Spring, Texas; Jacqueline Yarchuk, Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren, Kevin (Sandy) Hanson, Spring, Texas; Jonathan Vredenburg, Jacksonville, Fla.; Heather (Paul) Fink, Austin, Texas; Philip (Katie) Yarchuk, Columbia, S.C.; Matthew (Amber) Yarchuk, Irmo, S.C.; and six great-grandchildren. Les was a 33rd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Temple in Watertown, N.Y. He was a Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Emmanuel Congregational Church, Watertown, and he retired as an application engineer from Black Clawson, Watertown and Voith GMB, Appleton. His lifelong passions were woodworking, photography and travel, passions he enjoyed with his wife, family and friends. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at the Community Hospice. Family requests in lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Community Hospice, 5450 Ramona Blvd, Jacksonville, FL, 32205. Plans for a memorial service are under way.
