  Mary Lee (Miller) Krause, 64, Appleton, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home after a battle with cancer on September 17, 2009. She was born February 16, 1945, to the late Carl and Marion (Cooper) Miller. Family and friends will best remember Mary Lee for her sense of humor, that endured even through her health challenges. Mary Lee loved spending time with her family, especially enjoying soap operas or cheering for her favorite sports teams. Special friends, Bob and June Hendrickson, went with Mary Lee to the casino on occasion to try their luck at the slots. Mary Lee anxiously waited for and enjoyed her lunch dates with her retired co-workers from Holiday Inn. She also cherished time with her cat, Mariah, who cuddled in her lap while she worked on puzzle books. She will be greatly missed by her three children: Wanda (Rick) DeBaere, Appleton; Denise Johnson, Appleton, and Travis (Angela) Krause, Menasha; grandchildren: Brad (Tiffany) Verhagen, DJ Verhagen, Cory Verhagen, Aron Verhagen, Emily Verhagen, Brandon Johnson and Paula Wagner, all of Appleton; also Brent Johnson, Delaware; seven great-grandchildren and another due in October to Brad and Tiffany Verhagen; a brother, Jon Miller, Berlin; half-brother, Don; and her ex-husband and good friend, Dennis Krause, Appleton; good friend, Erdine "Sam" Froehlich. Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Ann and half-brother Harry. Memorial services for Mary Lee will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at the Valley Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Friends may visit the family from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary Lee's name at Community First Credit Union. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to St. Elizabeth Hospital staff and Affinity Hospice staff for going well beyond the regular call of duty.
