  Kenneth R. Wagner, age 92, of Chilton, died following a brief illness on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, surrounded by his family at his home in Chilton. He was born February 22, 1918, in the Town of Charlestown, son of the late Otto & Frances (McCarthy) Wagner. He married Monica A. Miller on November 10, 1945, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Brillion. The couple farmed together until moving to Chilton in 1984. He also sold safes, and was a sales rep for Renk Seeds where he was a proud member of the 'Golden Ear Club.' Monica preceded him on August 30, 2009. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was a former 4-H leader. Ken's family will remember him as a kind, generous and selflessly giving person who was always willing to help his children or grandchildren with any project they may have going on, or taking time to watch their sporting events, plays, showing animals at the fair, and the many other activities they were involved in. Ken was very active in sports through his high school career. Following graduation, he played baseball for Hayton and the City of Chilton. He also played basketball for the City of Chilton. Sadly for Ken, this all came to an end with the start of WWII when all athletics ceased. His love of sports continued through life, and he enjoyed watching the Packers and the Brewers play. Ken was truly known as an outdoorsman who liked trapping, hunting, fishing, logging and his horses, but farming and gardening were his first passion. Survivors include eight children: Al (Sally) Wagner, Seymour; Pat Wagner, Kiel; Joan (Terry) Schoen, Chilton; Joyce (Fred) Gebhart, Chilton; Joe (Linda) Wagner, Chilton; Mike (Lorie) Wagner, Chilton; Marilyn (Jerry) Hansen, Marytown; Jerry (Toni) Wagner, Chilton; nine grandchildren: Kelly (Duane) Tasch, Kristy Schoen, Jenny (Ted) Tabbert, Ashley, Julia, Erik Hansen, Jeanne (Mike Merrill) Wagner, Carrie, Nicole Wagner, four stepgrandchildren: Katherine (Scott) Beilke, Jennifer Thiel and Special Friend Roger Dafinsen, Steven (Heather) Gebhart, Kevin Gebhart; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, William "Earl" Wagner, Wisconsin Rapids; a sister-in-law, Ann (Eddie) Svatek, Reedsville; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Miller, Brillion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Monica; a daughter-in-law, Joan Wagner; a sister, Leora Spang; and his three brothers: Ray, Norbert and Roy Wagner. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010, and on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Calumet County Hospice staff, especially Sandy Blatz and Janice Nett.
