  Gerald Lee Skenandore, "Jerry," 68, Oneida, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer, early Monday morning, May 9, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 17, 1943, in Oneida, he is the son of the late Henry and Katherine (Cornelius) Skenandore. Jerry worked for many years as a roofer and most recently as a custodian at Oneida Bingo and Casino. He married Rose Ann Doucette Alloway on Sept. 14, 1996, at Oneida United Methodist Church, where Jerry was a member. He will be remembered as a talented woodworker, and for his enjoyment of working on cars and recycling. Jerry is survived by his wife of 14 years, Rose; five stepchildren and their spouses, Clayton Alloway, Evelyn (Bill) Alloway, Robert Alloway, Roger Alloway and Jamison (Brittany) Alloway; six children and their spouses, Geraldine (Charles) Skenandore, Noreen (Dale) Reed, Jacqueline (Keith) Skenandore, Gerald Skenandore, Jr., Christine (Lyn) Reed and Peterson Skenandore; 19 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, especially his special grandson, Ryder; and 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence (Mary) Skenandore and Gordon Skenandore; one sister, Minnie Smith; special friend, Ricky; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norbert, Clarence and Glen Skenandore. Visitation at Jerry's residence, W817 Daniel Court, De Pere, Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. Oneida Hymn Singers to sing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Visitation continues until the time of the funeral at 10 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Earl L. Smith officiating. Following the service, there will be a procession to the Oneida Nation Cemetery for a committal service. MALCORE (West) Funeral Home is serving the family.
